After examining those two pages, this is exactly what I will be grading when I examine your version, which will be worth 60 points.

1. A total of five questions NOT asked by Davis in Don't Know Much About History (5 points)
  • 5 points - questions modeled after the style found in the book (a question that makes the topic sound interesting)
  • 4 points - questions that makes clear what the answer will discus
  • 3 points - questions that are vague OR don't indicate what the answer will discuss
  • 2 points - less than five questions asked
  • 1 points - no questions asked beside the one being answered for the assignment

2. Foreword (10 points)
  • 10 points - indicates where (between what two questions in what chapter and pages) the question/answer will go, what your topic is, why you chose the topic, your name/section, and your feelings on the book
  • 8 points to 2 points - deduction depends on how many things are missing from the foreword

3. The passage (30 points)
  • 30 points - well constructed, well written, answers the question, indicates that you have ownership over the material
  • 24 points - decently well written, minor spelling/capitalization/tensing issues, missing some minor important points (or out of sequence)
  • 18 points - okay, occasional spelling/capitalization/tensing issues, missing some major important points (or out of sequence)
  • 12 points - poorly constructed/written, major spelling/capitialzation/tensing issues, ignored question or improperly answered it
  • 6 points - thrown together, improperly written and/or constructed, hard to comprehend viewpoint, opinionated

4. The research (10 points)
  • 10 points - uses at least five sources (and only one can be user edited or created, i.e. - wikipedia or a personal website/blog)
  • 8 points - uses at least four sources (and only one can be user edited or created, i.e. - wikipedia or a personal website/blog)
  • 6 points - uses at least three sources (and only one can be user edited or created, i.e. - wikipedia or a personal website/blog)
  • 4 points - uses at least two sources (and only one can be user edited or created, i.e. - wikipedia or a personal website/blog)
  • 2 points - uses only one source

5. Sourcing your research (5 points)
  • 5 points - properly sited format for all information in text (footnotes or APA) AND a bibliography at the end
  • 4 points to 1 point - deduction for each improperly sited example in the text/bibliography (automaticly a three if no bibliography)
